Specifications include, but are not limited to: (1). For the purpose of this Agreement, translation is defined as the act of changing written text from one language to another. Translation tasks may include, but are not limited to the following: a. Document Translation - The process of transferring a written text from one language to another. b. Audio Transcription - The process of transferring audio source to written language. c. Video Transcription - The process of transferring audio in a video source to written language. (2). The Authority may require written translation on a variety of documents, such as public notices, flyers, vital documents, as listed on Subsection C of this Section, and general correspondence. (3). For the purposes of this Agreement, interpretation is defined as the act of orally translating (virtually through video or audio, or in-person) and explaining between parties speaking in different languages. Interpretation tasks may include, but are not limited to: a. Consecutive Interpretation - Mode of interpretation in which the interpreter listens to the speaker’s message or audio source and conveys the message to a target language after the speaker or audio source has paused. b. Simultaneous Interpretation - Mode of interpretation in which the interpreter conveys the speaker’s message or audio source and conveys the message to a target language in real-time. c. Telephonic Interpretation - Connects human interpreters through telephone with individuals who do not share a common language. (4). The Authority may host several in-person public meetings, throughout the State of California, in which the audience attendance may require oral interpretation. The length of meetings may vary from two (2) to six (6) hours with an estimate of twenty-seven (27) meetings during the term of this Agreement.
