Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (JPB) located in San Carlos, California is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced firms to provide a Positive Train Control (PTC) system for CALTRAIN. The work includes system detailed design (software and hardware), procurement, installation, integration, commissioning, documentation and warranty of CALTRAIN'S PTC system. The work will also include the delivery of training, spare parts and special tools, and provide long-term software and hardware maintenance. The objectives of the project are to: 1. Operationally implement PTC as mandated by the Railroad Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (RSIA08) which describes the requirements for a positive train control system; 2. Provide interoperability between CALTRAIN'S PTC system with PTC systems implemented by tenant operators who operate on Caltrain property. These tenant operators include Union Pacific Rail Road (UPRR), Capitol Corridor, Altamont Commuter Express (ACE), Amtrak and the future California High Speed Rail (CHSR); 3. Provide functional and performance upgrades required for the Caltrain passenger rail service including improved operation of grade crossings; and 4. Maintain compliance with all applicable requirements of 49 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 236 and all other applicable CFR requirements.
