The Department of Personnel & Administration, Office of the State Controller (OSC), State Office of Risk Management (SORM) was created by the General Assembly (refer CRS 24-30- 1501 et. seq.) and is responsible for securing insurance and administering self-insured programs for the state’s real and personal property, worker’s compensation, and liability exposures. The SORM is entrusted to administer a comprehensive risk management program to all State Departments, Colleges, and Universities. Currently, this excludes the University of Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University – Ft. Collins, Colorado Mesa University, Fort Lewis College, Adams State University, and Western Colorado University. In addition, the SORM manages claims adjustment and investigation, as well as providing legal defense of claims.
