The City of Long Beach (City) received grant funding from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to support the implementation of state law SB 1383, California's Short-Lived Climate Pollutant Reduction Strategy. The City will use this grant funding to directly support community-based organizations (CBOs) as defined in 5.1 Acronyms/Definitions of this RFP that are located in or providing services in the City of Long Beach. The City identified two areas where grant funding can be used to help increase the recovery of edible food. For proposals submitted under Track 1 and/or Track 2, the following shall apply: Track 1 (Equipment and Supplies): The city seeks proposals from community‐based organizations that seek reimbursement funding for equipment and/or supplies— purchased after award of an agreement with the City—that will increase their capacity to recover edible food from Long Beach SB 1383-mandated food donors, as defined in Section 5.1 Acronyms/Definitions of this RFP. Track 2 (Technical Assistance): The City seeks proposals from community-based organizations that seek to provide the City technical assistance to support mandated donors increase the quantity and quality of food recovered and to ensure compliance with SB 1383 requirements.
