Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided RUHS-Public Health and the Riverside Overdose Data to Action (RODA) program a second round of funding through the Overdose Data to Action: Limiting Overdose through Collaborative Actions in Localities (OD2A: LOCAL) grant to further enhance the surveillance of overdose morbidity and mortality and to use the data to guide the implementation of prevention efforts to decrease the number of fatal and nonfatal overdoses, decrease illicit opioid and stimulant use, and increase the adoption of harm reduction strategies and principles in Riverside County. The CDC has approved vending machines as an allowable expense and activity. RODA will work with the Immunization and Staff Development Branch to identify the best areas for vending machines (preferably in areas with high overdose rates). Machines will be stocked with Narcan, Fentanyl Test strips, hand sanitizer, etc. These machines will provide harm reduction tools for the community at no cost to them.
