A Contractor will be hired to implement the Native Excellence Project for AI-AN Communities. The project will include: 1. The development and implementation of at least 10 Wellness events with featured Native speakers that includes a minimum of 25 unduplicated participants in each event with an overall total of at least 250 unduplicated participants. 2. The Contractor will obtain Native speakers for at least 10 different wellness events who are subject matter experts, cultural brokers, and leaders in the Los Angeles Native Community and beyond. Of those speakers, at least 5 must be someone that has some type of lived experience. This can include individuals who have personal (direct/indirect) experience with mental health conditions (personal, as a family member, as a caregiver, etc.) and may have some experience utilizing public mental health services. 3. Speakers must be recorded to allow event recordings to be promoted in a social media campaign after the live events. 4. Workshops and speaking events may include the following components at a minimum (suggested topics): i. Discussion of Native historical contributions to society ii. Psychoeducation about multigenerational trauma, boarding school experiences, and the impact on current and future generations iii. The history of California missions and their impact on the Native community in California iv. The resilience of the American Indian - Alaska Native community and the need to connect back to language and culture v. Colonization - internal and external manifestations in people and in society vi. How to create safe spaces for healing, building positive intention, and building community by incorporating and living out Native values and concepts. vii. At least 5 of the Wellness Events must be in person. The last 5 can be conducted on a virtual platform.
