A sample of the general duties for these categories of volunteers are provided, but not limited to, below. ● General volunteers may provide support with animal care support functions that do not include direct involvement with the animal collection such as preparing animal food under the direction of an animal keeper or assisting with other programs and operations as deemed necessary and appropriate by the ZOO. ● Student/Teen volunteers may provide support with on-site visitor programs and events by providing general visitor information or assisting with the delivery of interpretive programming to Los Angeles Zoo visitors. ● Docents may provide tours for school groups visiting the Los Angeles Zoo on a field trip, provide tours for private individuals or members, conduct learning & engagement classroom programs virtually, and deliver interpretive programming onsite to Los Angeles Zoo visitors as well as off site in the community.
