The County of Riverside Purchasing Department, on behalf of the Riverside County Sheriff's Office (RSO), Patrol division, is seeking competitive bids for PepperBall Projectiles as detailed in this RFQ. RSO operates multiple patrol stations with specialized units, reinforcing their commitment to public safety and community policing. Control devices are supplied for the purpose of controlling violent or potentially violent suspects. Per the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Standards Manual (DSM), only those control devices that have been approved by the Sheriff or designee are authorized to be carried by members of this department. Upon successful completion of the required training course, the PepperBall systems is an authorized department control device for objectively reasonable use by sworn deputies under the totality of the circumstances. The PepperBall systems offers law enforcement a highly effective non-lethal option for crowd control and suspect compliance. It’s precision-engineered launchers and projectiles ensure maximum accuracy, emphasizing safety for both officers and the community while minimizing unnecessary harm. PepperBall projectiles are fragile spheres that burst upon impact and releases a fog of exclusive pharmaceutical-grade PAVA pepper powder that expands up to 12 feet in diameter. Due to its weight consistency, size, and the way it’s distributed, these projectiles have an unprecedented level of effectiveness and accuracy that allows PepperBall round projectiles to launch precisely up to 60 feet between 280-350 feet per second (fps). These projectiles are ultrasonically welded, 100% waterproof, non-flammable, and indicates a red/white color when LIVE formulation.
