The Work includes, but is not limited to, planning, designing, preconstruction activities, and construction services for renovating the existing kitchen and cooking area at the Santa Rita Jail (SRJ) facility located at 5325 Broder Boulevard, Dublin, California, 94568. The kitchen is located inside the secure perimeter of the county jail. The current kitchen occupies approximately 37,960 square feet and is in a separate building apart from the inmate housing units. Food that is prepared at the kitchen is then transported to the individual housing units for service to the inmate population. The renovated kitchen is intended to occupy 23,000 square feet and its method of preparation and delivery will be cook-chill. The food shall be prepared in bulk and rapidly chilled for transportation or storage. The primary building systems (mechanical, plumbing, electrical) will need to be evaluated and replaced (if necessary) to accommodate the new kitchen program. Upgrades or replacement to the security system, building management system, and fire-life safety system are also part of this Project. In addition, the structure that houses the kitchen will also require a new roof. The emergency backup generator will also need to be evaluated and, if necessary, replaced.
