Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment, services, disposal fees and transportation required to accomplish services identified in the Tree Management Contract. a. Systematic Tree Trimming (Grid Pruning) - Tree pruning per pre-designed districts, grids or prune routes on a set cycle to include all trees including small, medium and large trees. Generally, grid pruning areas are planned as contiguous areas. Pruning may include structural pruning, crown raising, cleaning and selective thinning in accordance with the standards set forth by the International Society of Arboriculture Pruning Standards and the Best Management Practice, Tree Pruning Guidelines. No pruning shall involve the removal of more than 25% of bulk material from trees unless approved by Urban Forestry Manager or designee. b. Demand Based Programming – Demand based pruning is based on service requests with specific objectives in various locations within DISTRICT boundaries and may or may not be at contiguous locations. Pruning may include structural pruning, crown raising, cleaning and selective thinning in accordance with the standards set forth by the International Society of Arboriculture Pruning Standards and the Best Management Practice, Tree Pruning Guidelines. No pruning shall involve the removal of more than 25% of bulk material from trees unless approved by Urban Forestry Manager or designee. c. Tree Removal - Removal of District owned or maintained trees. Caliper of trees to be measured at 4 feet above soil level. District will provide list of tree(s) to be removed, mark trees, notify stakeholders and submits lists to Contractor. No tree shall be removed unless approved by Urban Forestry Manager or designee. d. Stump Grinding – Stump to be measured at 6 inches above ground level. Contractor shall grind stumps and surface roots to a depth of 18 inches below the undisturbed soil level. District will prepare list of stumps to be removed, mark stump and submits list(s) to Contractor. Contractor shall contact USA North 811 prior to commencing work within the required timeframe. All holes will be backfilled, as well as all debris cleaned up and hauled off on the day the stump removal is completed. e. Emergency Callouts - As directed by the Urban Forestry Manager or designee, respond to emergency requests for tree services after normal business hours for property or life-safety purposes. Contractor will respond to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis. Emergency work will begin on-site within sixty (60) minutes from the time of notification from the District. The standard crew is three (3) person, one (1) chipper truck, one (1) chipper, one (1) aerial tower and all necessary hand tools. The crew and equipment can be modified to complete any type of tree-related emergency. The crew will do what is necessary to render the hazardous tree or tree-related condition safe. f. Bi-Monthly Updates of All Tree Activities - Twice a month, on a schedule to be determined by the Urban Forestry Manager or designee, provide updates on all tree-related activities in the District's Tree Inventory Management Program or an approved alternate tree inventory management software program. g. Tree Inventory Data Collection at New Sites - As requested, collect and provide specific data on trees at new sites for the District's Tree Inventory. Enter data into the District’s tree inventory management application. h. Recycling of Wood Debris - Provide a woodchipper which produces high quality wood chip mulch which can be recycled and used as planter mulch. District to provide sites for mulch delivery. i. Hauling and Disposal of All Wood Debris - Provide proper hauling and disposal of all wood debris which cannot be recycled into suitable wood chip mulch. j. Consultations Services - Provide consultation services by a certified consulting arborist in the execution of the District’s Urban Forest Program. k. Installation of Cabling and Bracing - Provide the ability to install tree cabling and bracing according to International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) standards and specifications. l. Root Pruning - Provide the ability to perform root pruning. m. Supervision and Management - Respond to questions and resolve problems as they arise. 2. Regular communication between the District and Contractor is essential to the success of this agreement. Unless the District otherwise specifies, the preferred format of communications is email. The District will also identify the frequency of communications. 3. All equipment and materials used shall be of the highest quality and shall conform to original plans of the tree management specifications, or as approved by the District.
