The Project will reconstruct the existing Ramona Community Resource Center that houses the San Diego County Sheriff Department’s Substation and the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency and replace it with an approximately 18,000 square-foot (SF) Sheriff Substation building with new parking area and driveways. The new substation would include dedicated offices for officers, an evidence room and processing equipment, storage spaces, and a gym for use by the officers. A community room would be available to the public and accessible from a public entrance located off Main Street. Secured law enforcement parking and public parking totaling 74 spaces and a mobile command trailer would be provided within the central and northwestern portion of the site. An enhanced landscape buffer would also be provided at the northern property line between the new station and the existing multi-family housing units to the north. Contract Option 1 New Sheriff Station includes all work appropriate or reasonably necessary to build a complete and usable approximately 18,000 SF sheriff substation, including without limitation, moving staff and equipment to temporary swing space, demolition of the existing facilities, building the new facilities, and moving staff and equipment into the new facility. 2.1.3 Contract Option 2 Temporary Swing Space Temporary swing space may need to be prepared for the San Diego Sheriff’s Office (SDSO a.k.a., Sheriff’s Department). The County is exploring leasing approximately 4,000 square feet for SDSO to use while the Contractor delivers Contract Option 1 New Sheriff Station. If the County is able to lease temporary swing space, Contract Option 2 Temporary Swing Space may include designing and building a tenant improvement of the temporary swing space that the County leases.
