Summary of Specifications:
Adams County is requesting bids for the project: “#2015.436 Henderson Road Bridge Over The South Platte River Micropiles (#ADA124-9.848 aka #BRI101-124) - IMP #2013.00016 (Project). This Project requires the installation of micropiles. River flows must be diverted (using cofferdams) to allow these micropiles to be constructed.
The Henderson Road Bridge over the South Platte River has substructure elements that have been rated as structurally deficient. This Project will address the structural deficiencies at piers 3 and 4. According to the most recent structure inspection report, the steel H-pile capacities have been reduced due to: corrosion (partial loss of H-pile section); degradation (partial loss of lateral support); and scour (attributed to the September 2013 flood). Currently the bridge is load posted at 5 Tons, based on simple structural member reduction calculations. Subsequently, a detailed analysis concluded that a fully loaded truck can cross the bridge with an acceptable safety factor. However, the detailed analysis precludes multiple trucks on the bridge simultaneously. Conversely, a fully loaded truck can use the bridge, if loads do not exceed those used in the detailed analysis. Therefore, the County is compelled to address the structural deficiencies.
