The DDPHE Tobacco Program, funded by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) State Tobacco Education and Prevention Partnership (STEPP), seeks to reduce the negative health outcomes from commercial tobacco use as detailed in the STEPP 2030 Strategic Plan. The program seeks to accomplish the following goals:
Advance Health and Racial Equity for a Stronger Colorado: By 2030, reduce smoking prevalence levels among populations targeted by the tobacco industry to below 20%.
Keep Youth and Young Adults Tobacco-Free: By 2030, reduce the prevalence of any tobacco product use, including e-cigarettes, for youth and young adults under age 24 to below 15%.
Protect People and the Environment: By 2030, expand protections from secondhand smoke, vapor, and tobacco product toxic waste exposure for populations that are inequitably exposed.
Expand Support for People Quitting Tobacco: By 2030, increase the reach of tobacco treatment into priority populations by 50%.
