The Arvada Water Treatment Plant recently replaced old sand and anthracite filter media with new granular activated carbon (GAC) filter media. This change has implacted the preoxidation operational conditions and led to undesireable elevated treated water manganese concentrations. An evaluation addressing the manganese issue is necessary.
