RFP-2013-.098 - Sidewalk Ramp Improvement Project

Summary of Specifications:
This project aims to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility, with a special focus on providing appropriate infrastructure for mobility impaired sidewalk users. During the summer of 2012 the City of Aspen Engineering Department conducted a study to identify the sidewalk ramps within downtown Aspen that are not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The 2012 -2013 ADA Deficiency Inventory Report (Attachment “A”) recognized 18 sites as having ADA accessibility deficiencies, most of which can be addressed through the city’s continual sidewalk maintenance and extension projects or planned development. 

This project will focus on four of the more complex sites that cannot be simply addressed through these annual sidewalk projects or future development projects.
