Summary of Specifications:
The City of Commerce City is seeking a qualified contractor to construct the Tower Road Widening Project, Project No. PW-03-2014. The project consists of reconstructing and widening the existing roadway from 80th Avenue to 103rd Avenue (approximately 2.9 miles in length). The new roadway will have curb and gutter with two vehicular travel lanes and a bike lane in each direction (north/south), a raised landscaped median, LED street lights, a ten-foot wide meandering multi-use path (west side), and a six-foot wide sidewalk (east side). Other improvements include: undergrounding the overhead electric line and relocating other dry utilities to outside of the new pavement; water and sanitary sewer main lines and crossings to support future development; major drainage structures at Second Creek and Gramma Gulch; and a regional drainage system referred to as “T88 Drainage Improvements”.
The City is amenable to constructing the roadway with either asphaltic concrete or portland cement concrete, depending on which material is more economical. Therefore, bidders have the option to place a bid on one or both Alternate bid schedules.
The City may authorize the construction of “Deletable” and “Additive” improvements in accordance with the Milestone Schedule provided in the Appendix to the RFB. Bidders must place a bid for all Improvements labeled as Deletable, whereas Additive bids are not strictly required, but rather requested in order to help the City determine when Additive items could be constructed.
All Work must be completed within 540 days of the issuance of a Notice to Proceed.
