Summary of Specifications:
The charge of the Building Inspections Department is to ensure the standards and codes as set forth by the City of Edgewater for safety, health and public welfare are implemented and maintained by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, and location of all buildings and structures within Edgewater.
Under the general direction of the City Manager, the contractor will provide current building inspection services including, but not limited to, the following: Issuance of all building-related permits and the associated activities as they relate to the permits being issued, including: plan review for all new construction, remodels, additions, decks and other miscellaneous projects. Coordinate and assist with technical development reviews by other City consultants and City Staff. Coordinate and prepare reports and recommendations for the City Manager, Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council. Attend meetings of the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council when required for items related to the Building Department. Annual review of building fees and codes. Provide recommendations for buildings, maintenance and design for City projects and facilities. Answer questions from the public about building permit process and code interpretations. Maintain a status of all building permits and visually inspect all active permits to determine their status and to ensure that the only work being done is that which has been authorized by the permit. Office hours must be maintained Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
