Summary of Specifications:
SCOPE: A new sodium hydroxide feed system will be installed at the Nelson-Flanders Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The new sodium hydroxide feed system will be used to provide pH trim adjustment for both the pre-filtered water, as well as the post-filtered water; supplementing the Owner's existing soda ash feed system. Additionally, the new sodium hydroxide feed system will provide full backup pH control to the Owner's soda ash feed system. The new chemical feed system will be installed in the Nelson-Flanders' Chemical Feed Building. The current Potassium Permanganate Room will be decommissioned and will house the sodium hydroxide storage and feed equipment.
The Wade Gaddis (WTP) utilizes an aluminum sulfate (i.e. Alum) chemical feed system. The aluminum sulfate system consists of three (3) bulk storage tanks, chemical transfer pump, and two (2) metering pumps. This Project shall consist of removing one of three existing tanks to allow for the construction of a concrete containment wall, removing the chemical transfer pump, adding level indication to the two remaining tanks, and piping modifications within the Alum storage area.
The Nelson-Flanders WTP utilizes a powder activated carbon (PAC) chemical feed system. The system consists of a 37,000 gallon underground concrete tank with a turbine mixer for storing PAC slurry. This Project shall consist of coating the concrete storage tank.
