2022-23P - Transit Service Expansion Analysis

The City of Glenwood Springs, Colorado is undertaking a project to analyze the improvement of the existing fixed route system to better meet local commuting needs, an extension of the fixed route service to north and south Glenwood to meet local commuting needs, and an analysis of a shuttle to serve the Glenwood Hot Springs, Iron Mountain Hot Springs, hotels along SH 6, the Meadows Mall area and the city’s downtown. In addition, we have heard that there is a need for service for elderly or disabled coming into town on the Amtrak. The elderly or disabled are having trouble moving from the Amtrak station to other areas of town.
Area 1: Assessment of the existing fixed route transit system and development of an improved service for City residents and workers both on the existing route and potential routes to the north and south. If extensions are warranted based on a demand analysis, evaluate fixed route, on demand and micro transit. Proposed improvements for the existing and any new proposed service will consider routing, scheduling and other service adjustment opportunities.
Area 2: An analysis of the potential for a tourism shuttle running on short headways between hotels, Glenwood popular attractions, downtown. 
Area 3: An analysis of the potential for on demand service or micro transit for elderly or disabled tourists coming into town, as well as a potential employee shuttle from a lot adjacent to Farnum Holt on 7th.
