Through this Request for Proposal (RFP) process, the District is seeking responses from qualified offerors to procure Smart Snacks compliant ice cream and frozen treat items, hereafter collectively referred to as frozen treats, for delivery to our school based sites. A qualifying company will need to be able to provide site to site distribution to our 19 district locations, with the potential to add the 2 charter schools. At minimum, the vendor must be able to deliver bi-weekly or on an as needed basis. The vendor must be able to supply frozen display units to any school who requests them, with no additional costs to the district. Offerors and potential offerors to this RFP are referred to as “Offerors” or “Offeror” in this RFP. The awarded Offeror will be the sole contractor and shall fulfill all requirements of the proposal. The District prohibits subcontracting under this contract.
Scope of Work:
The mission of LPS Nutrition Services is to provide a variety of healthy school meals and other food options at affordable prices in support of the educational goals of students. The District participates in the National School Lunch Program for reimbursement of meals that meet federal standards and is allocated USDA commodities for use in school meals through the Food Distribution Program. All food and beverage sales that fall outside of the school meal programs (i.e. breakfast, lunch, or after school snack) must meet Smart Snack Standards. In accordance with federal Buy American law, the District desires to purchase domestic food products to the maximum extent practicable for school meals. One Distributor will be chosen to negotiate with the District under the terms of the proposal in effect for school year 2023-2024 beginning on August 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2024 with up to four 1-year renewals.
