As indicated in the construction plans, work includes conversion of two existing unused lagoons into a stormwater quality wetland pond, located at 1000 Briggs Street, west of the Reliance Dog Park. Work also includes the excavation, transportation and disposal of Biosolids material, locating existing utilities, erosion control, excavation and backfill, installation of a diversion manhole and inlet pipe, construction of a wetlands channel including revegetation, outlet structure and outfall pipe to Coal Creek, asphalt parking lot with concrete sidewalk connecting to Briggs Street, trails and boardwalks, shade structures, conduit for future Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stand, planting of trees, shrubs & irrigation, and site restoration.
This project also includes irrigation pipes, emitters and controller for the vegetation along with a new tap onto the Town of Erie Re-use Water Line and a meter and meter pit.
In addition, this project includes demolition of the Erie South Water Reclamation Facility (SWRF). The SWRF demolition project includes, demolition of the combined aeration and aerobic digester basins, two primary clarifiers with its covers and support columns, and a splitter box. Demolition includes removing the concrete structures to 3’ below grade and filling the structures with clean fill. Demolition within the structures includes removal of equipment including supports, valves, piping, and ancillary devices. The recycling facility and associated structures will remain and should be protected. All Electrical conduits, panels, and wiring to be pulled, terminated, and capped by a qualified electrician. Irrigation onsite and existing trees to be protected and irrigation to be expanded into the areas filled. Final grading and seeding of the site after demolition shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.
