The Town of Willington is seeking proposals from qualified firms for a station location study, pursuant to the attached “Scope of Work”. In simple terms, the town is seeking professional assessment and advice to determine how to best spend Willington tax dollars on capital projects to deliver emergency services, primarily fire and EMS, with consideration for related services such as fire marshal, police, emergency management, etc. The study shall identify the general state of the 3 stations, collect and analyze 5 years of response data to identify service demand types (severity) and areas (geographical locations), identify deficiencies in locating response resources (staff and/or apparatus) in relation to the demands/risks in the community, and provide recommendations for improvements to the location of resources, considering existing facilities as well as potential new locations to assure that the departments serve their community by efficiently responding to emergencies. If the analysis determines that the existing stations cannot or should not be upgraded, renovated, or expanded to meet the required needs, the town is also seeking recommendations on possible locations for a new facility. The evaluation shall include a singlepage programmatic drawing of each of the facilities that the study recommends be used going forward, indicating the basic elements of what features would be included, what resources would be housed in the relevant facility, and rough square footage required for each feature or resource. It is anticipated that the contract for this study will be approved on or about October 15, 2024.
