Specifications include, but are not limited to: q1. Snow Plowing & Removal a. The Contractor shall provide the necessary tools, equipment, and operator(s) to remove snow from NWC driveways and parking areas seven (7) days per week and during any snow event. All mechanical equipment must be in good working order and properly maintained. All operators must be trained, certified, and properly licensed to operate the relevant snow removal equipment. b. Contractor shall be responsible for supplying sand and salt mixture, de-icer, and all other materials, equipment, and personnel necessary to provide contracted services. c. Contractor shall clear snow from all driving surfaces and parking lots after each snow event as follows: i. Dusting to 1.0”: Surface treatment only (no plowing) when requested by NWC. ii. 1.1” or more: Snow plowing to include salting, sanding, and de-icing (one time after plowing has been completed); snow relocation (on-site) or removal (off-site) as directed by NWC or NWC Maintenance Supervisor (“Supervisor”). d. Prior to the first snowfall, the Contractor shall stake or otherwise mark sidewalks, hydrants, islands, etc. as designated by NWC, at no extra charge. e. Maintenance of Site Lines: The Contractor shall not leave any snow piles in traffic areas that exceed three feet in height, or that block sight lines and signs. f. The Contractor shall back blade to remove snow as needed in such areas but not limited to corner parking areas and in front of the dumpsters. g. For snow events that occur or continue during NWC's operating hours, the Contractor shall maintain open travel areas and clear the whole area during the following night. This shall be considered as part of the "per storm" pricing structure. h. All snow must be removed from campus driveways and parking areas and deposited in designated areas as indicated in the attached exhibits within 12 hours after snow stops falling and before 6:00 am of the next business day. Refer to Exhibit A for snow plowing and snow storage location areas. i. No snow is to be piled over the parking lot catch basins. 2. Sand and Salt/De-Icing a. In all snow events of at least one inch, the Contractor shall apply with a mechanical spreader a 7:2 ratio sand to calcium chloride salt mix to driveways and parking areas one time after plowing has been completed. b. For packed snow or ice, the medium must consist of a 50/50 mix of calcium chloride and sand. c. Contractor shall supply the Supervisor with relevant Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) prior to all solid and liquid chemical-based applications. 3. Snow Relocation a. On-Site: Contractor shall provide the necessary tools, equipment and operator(s) to relocate and pile snow at the facility in a specified location On-Site as requested by NWC or its Supervisor. b. Off-Site: Contractor shall provide the necessary tools, equipment and operator(s) to relocate and dispose of snow Off-Site in a lawful manner as requested by NWC or its Supervisor. 4. Return / Additional Visits a. Following completion of services for a snow event, Contractor shall not return to the Site for additional snow removal services associated with the completed snow event without prior authorization from NWC. Nothing in this section shall preclude the Contractor from performing for any subsequent snow events. 5. Additional Authorized Services a. Additional sanding, salt and/or de-icing following completion of a snow event may be required only if requested by NWC. b. Contractor shall respond to the authorization to perform additional sanding, salting, and/or deicing with two (2) hours of being notified by NWC. 6. Determination of Snow Accumulations a. Contractor, at its own expense, shall utilize a third-party service such as CTWeather.com or equivalent, as approved by NWC to validate invoice pricing.
