Specifications include, but are not limited to: Colonial School District seeks professional services to provide School Based Health Centers (SBHC), also called Wellness Centers, at eight elementary schools within the Colonial School District. The primary purpose for this initiative is to enhance positive health outcomes for children and adolescents. This can be accomplished through health promotion, the delivery of medical and mental health services, health education and information, and referral beyond the services provided by the SBHC staff. The Colonial School District has a varied demographic profile with 44.61% of students described as Black or African American and 26.61% as White or Caucasian. Approximately 21.51% are described as Hispanic or Latino. Additionally, approximately 2.5% of the district population are identified as Homeless or in Foster Care. Throughout the district, approximately 3,300 students are in grades K‐5. Colonial School District, through the School Based Health Centers, will provide educational services to, in addition to other students, students from low‐income families, who may not have consistent access to health care services. Background Colonial School District supports the mission of the Division of Public Health to protect and enhance the health of the people of Delaware. This mission can be accomplished by: • working together with others; • addressing issues that affect the health of Delawareans; • keeping track of the State’s health; • promoting positive lifestyles; • promoting the availability of health services. The accomplishment of this mission will facilitate the District in realizing its vision of educating every student for excellence together.
