The Contractor shall Pre-treat all areas with non-corrosive, environmentally friendly Deicing agents that comply with OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910- 1200 or refer to C.3). The Contractor shall distribute and apply De-Icier product(s) which possess the following characteristics: a. Shall be safe to handle, non-caustic, and non-toxic; will not burn or irritate skin; b. Shall provide effective and rapid de-icing action down to a minimum temperature of (0) degrees F / (-18) degrees C, within 15-20 minutes of application and dissolves quickly; c. Shall be non-corrosive to concrete, asphalt, and steel; d. Shall be environmentally safe to waterways, vegetation, and grass; e. Shall be pet friendly; f. Shall promote adherence to the pavement; g. Shall leave low levels of residue on pavement; must not leave a slick or oily finish; h. Shall not stain carpets or floors; must be non-tracking and easy to clean up; i. Shall consist of round particles; not flakes or irregularly shaped granules; j. Shall not clump in a bag; and k. Shall not easily roll or blow away after being applied.
