Summary of Specifications:
FOR PLANNING, ARCHITECTURAL, ENGINEERING AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE PLANNING, DESIGN, BID AND AWARD, AND CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION SERVICES FOR CERTAIN LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE MIAMI BEACH BOTANICAL GARDEN PROJECT; WITH FUNDING PROVIDED FROM THE PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED SERIES 2000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND FUND 383.
The City of Miami Beach (the “City”) needs to hire a design team that includes landscape architecture and engineering components to undertake the planning, design, bid and award, and construction oversight process for landscape improvements to the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, pursuant to the mission and vision of the Garden Conservancy, which is to provide and promote free public access to the facility; demonstrate USDA Zone 10 subtropical horticulture; promote environmental stewardship and green lifestyle; present environmental and ecological education programs for children and adults; preserve urban green space and tree canopy; and to serve as a venue for visual and performing arts, a community resource for weddings, parties and events and a tourist destination.
The City may request, accept, and consider proposals for the compensation to be paid under the contract only during competitive negotiations, which will take place after the selection of the firms deemed to be the most qualified to perform the required services. If the City is not able to negotiate a mutually satisfactory compensation schedule with the top-ranked firm which is determined to be fair, competitive and reasonable, additional firms in the order of their competence and qualifications may be selected, and negotiations may continue until an agreement is reached.
The cost and terms for the agreement will be negotiated after the Mayor and City Commission authorizes the Administration to enter into negotiations.

Any response received after 3:00 PM on August 14, 2008 will be returned to the consultant unopened. The responsibility for submitting qualifications before the stated time and date is solely the responsibility of the consultant.
The City will not be responsible for delays caused by mail, courier service, including U.S. Mail, or any other occurrence.
