The District Board of Trustees of Florida SouthWestern State College, Florida, hereinafter "College", requests Applications from licensed, certified general contractors interested in prequalifying for the College’s construction projects for all dollar levels effective January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025, pursuant to Board Rule 6hx6:2.11 and State Requirements for Educational Facilities (2014) Chapter 4, Section 4.1. Prequalification of certified general contractors for educational facilities construction is applicable to renovation, construction management, design-build, and any other form of construction services. Construction services will be for College projects at its Lee, Collier, and Charlotte Campuses, as well as its Hendry/Glades Center.
This prequalification is for “General Contractors” ONLY as defined in Florida Statute 489.105(3)(a). Prequalification Applications will NOT be accepted from subcontractors or any other contractor defined in Florida Statute 489 other than “general contractor”. Any individual, firm, partnership, corporation, association or other legal entity that submits a formal Application to this Request for Qualifications, and is a General Contractor as defined in Florida Statute 489.105 (3)(a): (a) must be registered to do business in the State of Florida; (b) must possess a current, active, and certified general contractor’s license issued by the State of Florida; (c) must possess a minimum of one (1) million dollars in current bonding capacity; and, (d) must possess a minimum of one (1) million dollars in general liability and property damage insurance.
