Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. The Grocery Store 23-24 Timber Sale is a 604-acre initial thinning of Longleaf pine. The timber to be removed will be cut in 20-foot swaths leaving 40-foot swaths in between each cut. Swaths will be curved wherever possible to enhance aesthetics and reduce the look of a mechanical thinning. Leaning, forked, diseased, and defective timber is to be harvested from the 40-foot leave swaths. This harvest is in Blackwater River State Forest in Santa Rosa County, Florida (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-CO245755). Estimated volumes for the sale are as follows: 8,619 tons of pulpwood, and 247 tons of pine chip-n-saw. Sale area boundaries are marked with double dots of orange paint or are defined by major roads or major timber type changes. This will be a 12-month contract.
