Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. The total acreage for this sale is 222 acres. This sale is broken into two different parts; the first part, a third row and logger select thinning of 122 acres of loblolly and slash pine, and the second part, a clearcut of 100 acres of loblolly, slash pine, and hardwood, located on Plank Road State Forest in both Leon and Jefferson Counties. The estimated volume to be removed from the total sale area are 319 tons of pine topwood, 3,124 tons of pine pulpwood, 3,897 tons of pine chip and saw, 1,244 tons of pine sawtimber, and 1,814 tons of hardwood pulpwood. The first part of the sale, the thinning, consists of 21.6 acres of 31-year-old slash pines (Sale Area 3), 35.6 acres of 33-year-old slash pines (Sale Area 4), 27 acres of 26-year-old slash pines (Sale Area 5), 30.2 acres of 26-year-old slash pines (Sale Area 6), and 7.1 acres of 37-year-old loblolly pines (Sale Area 7). Timber to be removed includes every third row and select trees in the remaining rows in order to reach 60-70 square feet of residual basal area per acre. All hardwoods will be removed and not counted towards the desired basal area unless the Forester-In-Charge marks the hardwood to remain. Trees to be removed from the selection rows include diseased, damaged, defective, forked, and suppressed trees; followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired basal area.
