The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a per unit sale, operator select thinning of approximately 432 acres of planted slash pine from Box R Wildlife Management Area in Franklin County, Florida (see attached maps). This sale will require low ground pressure equipment. Timber to be removed includes two adjacent rows for access, leaving four rows. Within the four row panel select trees will be harvested to leave a residual basal area of 50-70 square feet per acre. Trees in the leave rows to remove include diseased, deformed, defective, forked and suppressed trees along with a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the target basal area. The trees to leave will be the better formed dominant or co-dominant trees free of any obvious defects such as forks, crooks, and cankers. Boundaries of the sale areas are forest type changes, roads or flagging as depicted on attached sale maps. Estimated volumes to be removed includes 15,495 tons of pine pulpwood and 4,642 tons of chip-n-saw and better. This will be a twelve (12) month contract.
