CoRe is a co-responder crisis response program based on current best practices to assist law enforcement officers improve encounters with individuals who have mental health disorders and/or SUD/COD. Deliver Crisis Response Through Coordination between law enforcement and mental health agency: The CoRe team, consisting of one behavioral health clinician and one FCSO deputy, will be dispatched by Fulton County 911 to assist individuals with mental health disorders or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders to reduce crisis response times. The clinician will assess the individual to determine need and next steps including in-patient treatment at the Fulton County Behavioral Health Crisis Center or Grady Hospital or follow-up care by a peer support specialist who will provide warm handoffs to community-based service providers. Through implementation of the CoRe program, crisis response times will be reduced by at least 30% and first responders will be empowered to provide in-field, evidence-based crisis de-escalation, assessment, and connections to community based supportive services
