The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), Influenza Division (ID), intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchse order to JLS Research, 2707 Barmettler St., Raleigh, North Carolina, 27607 to procure Hyline fertile chicken eggs used primarily for the isolation of influenza viruses. The embryonated chicken eggs will allow the Influenza Division a reliable way to produce large quantities of candidate vaccine viruses. The quality and consistency of Hyline eggs is crucial in the success of producing large quantities of candidate vaccine viruses for the Influenza Division.
The Contractor shall hold primary responsibility for ensuring white fertile chicken eggs be viable at time of delivery. All white fertile chicken eggs furnished from Contractor shall be from a single flock and any other eggs provided from Contractor shall also be from a single flock. All flocks from which eggs are furnished shall meet the requirements of the National Poultry Improvement Plan of 1963. After testing by an official of the appropriate State Agency, flocks shall qualify for the rating of "U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean". The Contractor has the responsibility to assure that flocks described above shall be fed a diet free of antibiotics and bacteriostatic agents.
This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
