Specifications include, but are not limited to: Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress. Completes designated follow-up procedures for students referred for special education service. Develops, implements, monitors, and reviews the Individual Education Program (IEP) of each student. Assesses student needs, progress, expectations, goals, etc. Collaborates with school personnel, parents, and various community agencies. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Demonstrates proficiency instructing students in the use of contracted Braille and Nemeth Code. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of Braille technology; produces materials in Braille using Braille computer programs and embossers and using and teaching the use of electronic Braillers. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of text to speech computer software. Demonstrates knowledge and use of techniques for instruction of low vision students to include the use of magnification devices. Demonstrates knowledge of techniques to instruct students in adapted living skills related to vision loss. Demonstrates methods required to perform assignments to provide effective school program and address needs of individual students. Exhibits professionalism in all job related situations; follows professional ethics in all work related activities. Provides instruction that is appropriate; communicates responsibly with all individuals and groups; assumes a fair share of outside-the-classroom school responsibilities; maintains plans according to policies and/or directives; promotes the responsible use of materials and equipment; submits accurate paperwork on schedule; prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent. Accounts for student attendance and punctuality; directs the conduct of students in accordance with policies at all times; takes all reasonable measures to protect students’ health and safety. Cooperate with other members of the school staff and the administration in the discharge of tasks, duties, and responsibilities. Complete all prescribed activities outlined in the Professional Development Plan according to the time lines indicated. Provide differentiation of instruction, both for individual and small groups, which provides students access to the Georgia Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of IEP, as appropriate Facilitate and complete functional behavioral analyses and develop behavior intervention plans for students Assist other professional staff in diagnosis of learning problems, development of planned remediation and evaluation of student progress Maintain appropriate student data and other records and submit reports as required Adhere to federal, state & local compliance Issues
