Specifications include, but are not limited to: FURNISHING SECURITY SERVICESFORDEPARTMENT OF HEALTHADULT MENTAL HEALTH DIVISIONHAWAII STATE HOSPITAL. The Security Guards shall be under the direct supervision of the Associate Administrator forAdministrative and Support Services. The duties of the Security Guards shall include, butnot be limited to, the following:a.Assist in maintaining hospital perimeter security services by augmenting theDepartment of Public Safety (DPS) security services and display a presence on theinterior of HSH's direct care units as directed.b.Notify Nursing shift supervisor in any event out of the ordinary, includingelopements.c.Pursue AWOL or escapee on grounds and the general vicinity of the campus of theKaneohe area when instructed by the Nursing shift supervisor.d.Escort staff members to vehicles in adjacent parking lot, when requested.e.Assist ambulance crews, law enforcement and DPS security officers whenrequested.f.Make written reports of incidents and assists in appropriate follow-up investigationswhen requested.g.In the event of fire or other emergency situation, alert the telephone operator viaradio or the most expeditious means and assist as necessary.h.Maintain a security log to document unusual occurrences during shift.i.Notify DPS shift supervisor or Nursing Supervisor if a covert, unsafe condition orbreach in security is suspected.j.Participate in "Pat Searches" prior to entry searches of buildings or residentbelongings when contraband is suspected, under direction of shift supervisor, unitstaff and DPS Nursing shift supervisor.k.Turn over contraband in accordance with hospital policy and applicable laws (i.e.:maintain chain of custody).l.Detain and hold until directed otherwise unauthorized visitors found either in thebuildings or on the grounds [outside of the buildings] until appropriate lawenforcement or DPS security personnel arrive on the scene
