Specifications include, but are not limited to: The proposed project will build upon the foundation established during earlier efforts of the Hawai'i Defense Economy Project. This project will work toward the administration and operations of the Hawai'i Defense Alliance (HDA) comprised of various sector partnerships (educational institutions, industry, Federal, State, and Local government, existing business resources, etc.) designed to identify defense sector challenges and initiate actionable efforts to overcome those challenges. The objective is to diversify and strengthen business opportunities and grow the defense industrial base within the Hawai'i small business community. Prior efforts resulted in the creation of the HDA and this effort will focus on maturation of the HDA to a more business and opportunity focused endeavor with the intent to increase local participation in the Hawai'i Defense Economy. Measured outcomes will include the number of local businesses awarded DoD contracts and/or sub-contracts, the dollar value of those contracts and subcontracts, and the number of new local contractor jobs created.
