The plan must include a proposed planting design considering a density of approximately 300-400 koa plants per acre. In addition to koa plants, the bidder must propose in its design the possibility of introducing other native species that will benefit the koa plants but do not interfere with their growth and potential future thinning, pruning, and other actions. In addition to benefiting the development of koa trees, planting other species aims to increase the area's biodiversity and help reduce competition from grasses through shading. The plan should propose a list of native species to help restore and improve the native forest ecosystem. The choice of species should also consider long-term forest health and benefits to native biodiversity and ecosystem services. Even if this project does not foresee the installation of roads, the proposed design may include a proposal for the future installation of roads.
