Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Respondent shall provide language arts/literacy program the meets the following criteria: a. Aligns with the Iowa Core Literacy Standards. b. A content-rich core curriculum with effective evidence-based teaching practices. c. Provides opportunities for differentiation and intensification with special populations, including systematic, explicit, and comprehensive instruction. d. Incorporates carefully selected texts that systematically build background knowledge and schema and leverage vocabulary instruction to encourage connections across units, years, and grade levels. Texts should include images, stories, and information representative of a wide range of demographic groups. e. Lays out personalized plans for districts based on needs, available resources, and technology. For example, districts might require print, digital, or a hybrid version of the materials based on access to technology. f. Allows teachers to access all manuals, instructional materials, and content using a learning management system. g. Produce formative and summative assessments to help establish clear student performance expectations. h. Deliver authentic writing opportunities that connect to reading components while aligning with the grade level standards and includes embedded explicit skill mini-lessons. i. Includes resources to engage multiple modalities with collaboration opportunities for students. j. Provides high-quality job-embedded teacher support and training for using instructional materials, classroom routines and structure, and student engagement strategies with integrity. k. Incorporates lessons that include the study of word parts and patterns with a focus on multisyllabic words appropriate for secondary students.
