1) Remove and dispose of all roofing materials, including drip edge, gutter apron, pipe flashing, and venting (Leave step flashing and any power hoods). 2) Remove existing sheathing and Install 5/8” wood structural panel (OSB or plywood) sheathing with proper edge support (lumber blocking or panel edge clips or tongue and groove panel edges or other approved type of edge support. 3) Install ice and water barrier (at the lowest edge of the roof and extending not less than 24 inches up from the exterior wall line R905.1.2) and in the valleys (not less than 36 inches wide valley lining R905.2.8.2). 4) Install underlayment (R905.1.1) (over the drip edge at eaves, and under the drip edge at rake R905.2.8.5). 5) Install new drip edging/gutter apron (R905.2.8.5), metal flashing (R905.2.8.3), and pipe flashing (R905.2.8.4), where required. 6) Install 30-year architectural asphalt shingles (R905.2.4). 7) Install shingle-over ridge vent the entire length of the ridge (if applicable) and/or provide adequate amount of roof vents (per shingle manufacturer recommendations) (R806.1). 8) Install a 1-inch ventilation clearance between the existing insulation and underside of the roof sheathing for deck ventilation, in all areas where the interior wall/ceiling coverings are attached directly to the underside of the roof rafters (see attached figure) (R806.3). 9) Pick up yard of excess roofing materials, debris, and drag a magnet to ensure no nails are left in yard (leave yard in same or better than it was before starting the project)
