Specifications include, but are not limited to: : The new Public Services Maintenance Facility which is under construction just south of 3rd Avenue and west of 44th Street. The 144,000-square-foot structure provides for the current and future operational needs of the Public Services Department. It includes expanded equipment storage, fleet maintenance, and fabrication facilities for the department responsible for street repair and maintenance, snow and ice control, sewer maintenance and garbage collection. The facility was designed with a 3,000-square-foot FEMA-certified safe room and a front office constructed out of precast wall and ceiling concrete components. The equipment storage facility is designed with precast concrete wall systems and a reinforced pre-engineered steel structure to withstand severe weather events. The facility also incorporates sustainable energy elements that include a 300-ton closed-loop geothermal system that will provide long-term energy savings for the facility's heating and cooling needs.
