Specifications include, but are not limited to: All mail which requires processing must be securely transported by the Contractor, at the Contractor’s expense. Contractor shall pick up mail at the Ames and DAS locations each day no earlier than 4:15 PM CT and at the Ankeny location between 12:00 pm CT and 2:00 pm CT. DOT pickup scheduled Monday through Friday except DOT Holidays. DOT will provide a list of DOT Holidays to Contractor. After processing, the mail must be transported to the U.S. Post Office the same day it’s picked up by the Contractor and early enough to maintain the same day postmark, unless other arrangements have been mutually agreed upon in advance by the DOT and the Contractor. The Contractor shall provide notification in writing via email, to the DOT if scheduled mailings or jobs are delayed. All mail must be transported by the Contractor in a closed, securely locked vehicle(s). Each of the Contractors’ employees transporting the DOT mail must have a valid driver’s license. Contractor is required to handle/process/presort all mail in accordance with the current U.S. Postal Services rules and regulations. Contractor must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in providing mail services at similar agencies of like size and mail service needs. Bid response must include detailed documentation of proof of experience.
