Specifications include, but are not limited to: Iowa State University is looking for a network intrusion detection system combined with a managed security service provider (MSSP) to provide 24×7 monitoring and alerting of network intrusions on our network. We already have a complete tapping and packet broker infrastructure in place, so we only need a passive network intrusion detection appliance coupled with a co-managed security-monitoring service to filter out false positives and notify us of suspected intrusions. We are ok with either a bring your own device or rental model for the sensor, but we want the co-managed security service to manage it for us. We are open to proposals from vertically integrated vendors that can deliver everything, as well as VARs that can assemble a technology and managed services solution to meet our requirements.
