Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1 These specifications cover rotary-kiln pebble lime for use in the treatment and softening of the municipal water supply. 2.2 The pebble lime shall be substantially free of unburned limestone, charcoal, ash, and other foreign matter. 2.3 The pebble lime shall be of the quality known as “quick slaking”, shall slake satisfactorily, readily disintegrating into a suspension of finely divided material without the production of objectionable amounts of undissolved or unslaked material in the slaker. 2.4 ANSI/AWWA Standard B202-19 (including any recent updates) shall be considered a part of these specifications. 2.4.1 In cases of conflict between the AWWA specifications and City of Ames requirements, the provisions of the more stringent shall apply.
