PER CITY OF AMES SPEC 15KV URD-EPR_LCC_11-27-18. MUST ALSO CONFORM TO LATEST NESC REQUIREMENTS FOR MARKING. TO BE PACKAGED ON NONRETURNABLE REELS OF 2500 FT EACH. CERTIFIED TEST REPORTS ARE REQUIRED. COMPLETE MANUFACTURER'S SPECS SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH QUOTATIONS. ACCEPTABLE SUPPLIERS ARE OKONITE AND KERITE. Quality Management System: The cable shall be manufactured and tested under a declared Quality Management System (QMS) that is ISO registered. Current QMS registration to ISO 9001:2000 (or later) is preferred. Conductor: The conductor shall be strand-filled aluminum alloy 1350 per ASTM B609, Class B concentric lay stranding per B-231, with the minimum number of wires as given below: Conductor Size # of strands 1/0 to 4/0 AWG 19 500 kcmil 37 The strand-filling compound shall completely fill the conductor’s inner strand layers. The compound shall be compatible with all cable materials and commonly used connectors. Conductor Shield: The conductor shield shall be applied over the conductor, shall be an extruded, semi-conducting thermosetting compound and meeting the latest AEIC and ANSI/ICEA requirements (an exception is allowed for designs using a non-conducting high permittivity EPR compound that is discharge-free). It shall be compatible with the conductor and insulation, shall free-stripping from the stranded conductor, and shall be uniformly and firmly bonded to the overlying insulation.
