Specifications include, but are not limited to: To deliver current and relevant safety, security, and emergency response, the Iowa Department of Public safety is seeking to implement a projector based, 180 degree scenario simulator platform with an interactive simulation system utilizing multiple screens and real video for small arms and use of force training providing life threatening and non-life threatening scenarios. The simulator platform shall allow for a large array of training environments and situational scenarios that shall include but not be limited to: hostage, active shooter, traffic stops, burglary, robbery, etc. The real video simulator scenarios will be utilized to trigger a stress induced physiological and physical response for the trainee and provide de-escalation options allowing current sworn officers and academy recruits with multiple realitybased use of force training options. Training scenarios contained within the scenario simulator platform must be customizable for all police-citizen contact. This simulated training environment, along with DPS required live fire training, will better prepare officers for real world situations that they may encounter in the performance of their duties. This training equipment will ensure all DPS Academy peace officer candidates and sworn officers within the State are equipped with the ability to conduct high-stress, realistic training to prepare for emergency events and active threat situations that may occur within the State of Iowa. The proposed simulator will be housed in a lighting and temperature controlled building/room with a maximum allotted room size dimensions of 21’9” by 26’ with 8’3” ceiling height and specifically designated for this purpose.
