Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Ames, Iowa, (City) provides free residential energy audits for customers of the City of Ames Electric Services. It is intended that these energy audits provide practical energy saving information to customers and that recommendations be completed to lower residential energy consumption. Typically, about 100 energy audits are performed per year during this program. Audits shall be performed only by Firms who are: 1.2.1.1 Currently enrolled in or have completed training as a residential energy auditor by a Federal or State agency, a building science institute, a recognized energy engineering society, or an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to Firms who have completed training and have at least one year of experience conducting audits. 1.2.1.2 Or have another energy related certification and two years of experience performing audits. 1.2.1.3 Or have a minimum of three years’ experience performing audits. 1.2.1.4 Documentation of enrollment, completion, or certification and proof of experience is required. 1.2.2 Audits shall be initiated by the City of Ames Electric Services only. Any requests by property owners directed to the Firm shall be redirected to the Electric Services representative. 1.2.3 Appointments shall be arranged by the Firm directly with the homeowner using contact information sent by the City of Ames. Firm must be available during weekday evenings and weekends to accommodate homeowner’s schedule. 1.2.4 Only authorized employees of the Firm will be allowed on the premises during the performance of the work. The appearance of the Firm's equipment and employees shall be clean and neat. The Firm’s employees shall refrain from smoking, using strong or inappropriate language, or conducting themselves in any unprofessional manner while performing audits.
