Specifications include, but are not limited to: Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is soliciting information from qualified Suppliers on behalf of the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department for a sample preparation system for combustion ion chromatography. The machine will be used to prepare samples for ion chromatography by oxidatively decomposing liquid and solid samples possibly containing carbon-halide and carbon sulfur bonds into their ionic forms. This oxidative decomposition is a key component for understanding PFAS presence in packaging materials for meeting regulatory thresholds, halides presence incoming waste streams for pyrolytic decomposition to minimize damage through catalyst poisoning by halide compounds in waste to energy and chemical upcycling processes, and monitoring possible pfas migrating between plastics/microplastics to depacked foods, microbe digested waste streams, and environmental areas from plastics lifecycle processes. REQUIRED TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATIONS Sample mass solid requirements – capable of handling sample mass amounts of at minimum 200 mg for purposes of achieving specific method limits of detection Autosampler component for at least 20 samples for continuous combustion treatment Retain at least 60 separation fractionation tubes Oxidative pyrohydrolitic combustion of solids and liquids to decompose organic carbon halide (fluorine, chlorine, bromine) bonds and their associated solid matrices
