Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received electronically before 3:00 p.m. CDT on Friday, September 27, 2024, for the purchase and delivery of three (3) washer/extractor units for cleaning of turnout gear worn for firefighting, as requested by the City of Cedar Rapids Fire Department. 1. Background – The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking bidsfrom qualified Vendors for the purchase and delivery of three (3) washer/extractor units for cleaning of turnout gear worn for firefighting, as requested by the Cedar Rapids Fire Department. All equipment shall be new and unused and meet the minimum specifications listed below. 2. Minimum Specifications for Turnout Gear Washer/Extractor 2.1 Compliant with NFPA 1851 – Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Firefighting 2020 Edition. 2.2 Preprogrammed wash formulas for decontaminating firefighter turnout gear. 2.3 Pump or system that injects the appropriate amount of detergent into the wash cycle based on the programmed wash cycle. 2.4 Training materials for users on how to operate machines in line with manufacturers recommendations. 2.5 Machines should not require alteration of facilities for installation or hard mount to the floor of the facility. 2.6 Equipment shall operate on 120V AC power. 2.7 Equipment shall be rated for 35 pounds and have the capacity to wash six (6) pieces of turnout gear in one load. 2.8 Units shall be plumbed to discharge into a slop sink.
