Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Production crops will include, but not limited to, corn, milo, wheat, soybeans, and alfalfa. KDWP area manager determines the crops planted each year with input from permittee. 2. Proposed crop plan for 2024 and crop specifications are in the attached Annual Permit and Tract Map. Subsequent years will follow similar crop patterns and will be detailed on the Annual Permit each year. 3. Five percent (5%) of wheat and 5% of all row crops will be left un-harvested in areas designated by the manager. Permittee may harvest 100% of soybeans. If cover crops are not planted, 10% of wheat and 20% of row crops must be left standing. 4. Successful bidder will take possession of fields currently planted to winter wheat following 2024 wheat harvest. New permittee will be responsible for weed control and cover crop planting following wheat harvest. Possession of unplanted fields for fall crops upon approval and signing of agricultural permit and annual permit. 5. Most common herbicides may be used on Department lands as long as label directions are followed for applications. Atrazine usage in any form is limited to no more than 1 pound per acre per year. Paraquat is prohibited. 6. The permittee shall be responsible for control of noxious weeds within crop fields. 7. The permittee’s vehicles and equipment are permitted on wildlife area lands for agricultural purposes only. During refuge closure dates (Sept 1 – Jan 31), permittee must notify Area Manager prior to accessing refuge.
