1. GENERAL
The Water Distribution Department of the Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL or Owner) is soliciting proposals for Pre-Insulated Hot Water Pipe and Fittings. The selected bidder must comply with the requirements contained in this Scope of Work.
2. BOARD OF WATER AND LIGHT BACKGROUND
The BWL was founded in 1885 and is the largest municipally owned electric utility in Michigan and the third-largest electric utility in the state. It is governed by an eight-member Board of Commissioners appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the Lansing City Council. The BWL employs approximately 800 people.
The BWL owns and operates An electric system that generates, purchases, and distributes electric power and energy and provides electric service to approximately 100,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the greater Lansing area; water wells, a raw water transmission system, water conditioning facilities, and an extensive water distribution system serving potable water to approximately 60,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the greater Lansing area of which approximately 45,000 of these customers receive non-metered sewage services; steam generation boilers, a steam transmission and distribution system serving approximately 175 customers; chilled water facility and distribution piping system serving 10 customers in Lansing.
The BWL’s total operating revenue for Fiscal Year 2024 was $440,962,055.
