Demolition of Shelter location on City Park Ave. Adjacent to Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery The RTA is moving forward with the planned removal of a shelter located on the riverside of City Park Avenue, across from Morning Call restaurant and adjacent to the perimeter wall of Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery. This project will be conducted with the highest level of expertise and care to ensure public safety and the preservation of surrounding structures. A licensed structural engineer will be a critical part of the team, conducting a thorough pre-inspection of the site to confirm that the demolition will not affect the integrity of the adjacent Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery wall. The engineer will also conduct inspections as needed during the demolition and provide a final inspection upon completion. To ensure the wall's stability, the engineer will issue a formal letter of opinion verifying that the demolition process did not impact its structural integrity. The scope of work includes the complete demolition of the shelter, removing all components such as the roof, columns, benches, and footings down to the sidewalk. The contractor will ensure that the site is left clean, with no residual hazards such as protrusions or obstructions that could limit accessibility. All demolition materials will be properly disposed of in compliance with regulations. The contractor will also be responsible for securing all necessary permits from the City of New Orleans and will maintain consistent communication with RTA’s designated project manager. This will include an initial kickoff meeting, the presentation of a project schedule, weekly progress updates, and thorough project cleanup and closeout. RTA is committed to completing this project efficiently, responsibly, and with minimal disruption to the community, ensuring both safety and professionalism throughout
